Missing: Cameron Fenton

7 09 2009

Police now believe Carlton Fenton, the father who abducted his 19 month old son yesterday from an Ihop in Homewood, is headed back to New York. US Marshals and Highway Patrol are on the look out for a black Tahoe with the New York license plate EJU 1337. The Jefferson County DA’s office has also signed a Felony warrant on Carlton Fenton for the abduction.

The parents of the missing child were in the midst of a custody battle at the time of the abduction, and while they each had joint custody, investigator James Evans says what the father did was illegal.

“Joint custody does not mean that the other party can just take the child. Who ever is the custodial parent has actually has the primary custody rights to the child. To just take a child from a parent with out any type of for warned notice or cooperation is against the law,” says Evans.

No amber alert has been issued in this case because they don’t believe the child is in imminent danger.

Saturday Information:
3:30 Saturday afternoon, 19-month old Cameron Fenton was abducted from the I-Hop restaurant located on Lakeshore Parkway by his father, 25-year old Carlton Fenton, of New York.

“As the mother was bagging up left over food from their dinning he left with the child out of the business took time out to slash one of the mother’s front tires and fled the area,” says Homewood Investigator James Evans.

Before fleeing the scene, Carlton Fenton left the mother a note on an Ihop napkin.

“The father stated that he wanted to have the child with him. He did not want the child to grow up not knowing his dad and that he would take care of the child. Since she is already pregnant at this time he felt this was a good time for him to take the child. That he would give the child the best of care and he ended it by saying this may be a stupid thing for him to do but he felt he had to,” says Evans.

19 month old Cameron is described as a black, male toddler, wearing cornrows, a blue Nike short set, and Winnie the Pooh shoes. The father Carlton Fenton is described as a black, balding male, with a tattoo of a lion on his left bicep. He was last seen wearing an orange shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes. He is believed to be driving a black Tahoe New York license plate EJU1337. Fenton is believed to have help in this abduction.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of the child please call Homewood Police at 877-8637.

Still Missing: Hasanni Campbell (California)

3 09 2009

I have not posted on this yet, but please read this as it is still important that we find this child!

The reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or people who abducted Hasanni Campbell, the disabled Fremont boy was reported missing nearly a month ago, has jumped to $60,000, authorities said today.

The Oakland Police Department’s Crime Stoppers Program received $50,000 in contributions from the Alameda County supervisors and the county of San Francisco.

Alameda County Supervisors Gail Steele and Scott Haggerty initiated the move to increase the reward by $25,000 for information leading to the whereabouts of the 5-year-old boy, who was reported missing Aug. 10 from the rear driveway of Shuz of Rockridge.

The boy’s foster father, Louis Ross, said he left the boy alone when he went to the front of the store to alert Jennifer Campbell, the boy’s foster mother and aunt, that he had arrived to drop off Hasanni and the boy’s 1-year-old sister. Ross told police that when he returned to the rear driveway, the boy was gone.

Because the boy’s biological parents live in San Francisco, the city’s Department of Human Services has been involved in the case. The biological parents gave up custody of the children because of health and other problems, authorities have said.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom authorized a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the abduction of Hasanni, who has cerebral palsy and wears

braces on his feet.

“We hope this award will lead to information on the whereabouts of Hasanni Campbell,” Newsom said in a statement. “If you have any leads, please contact the Oakland Police Department.”

Ross, 38, and Campbell, 30, were arrested last week and held for several days in jail while the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case. Prosecutors did not file criminal charges against them, and both were released this week.

“This case has touched everyone in our community and across the region and with the increased reward money we are hoping to bring closure to this case, said Oakland’s acting police chief, Howard Jordan, in a statement.

A search of Lake Elizabeth in Fremont, 40000 Paseo Padre Parkway is planned for 9 a.m. Saturday. Volunteers and donations of food and beverages to feed those volunteers are still needed. People interested in volunteering should meet at 9 a.m. at the main entrance. Anyone with food to donate should call Sherri Miller at 510-276-9090.

Anyone with information about this case may call the Oakland Police Department at 510-777-3211 or 510-238-7934 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
